Mikal Bridges of the New York Knicks has started his NBA career with 625 consecutive games played, the longest active streak in the league, and one of the longest ever.

While he hasn’t made much of the milestone publicly, his recent struggles have raised questions about whether he might benefit from some rest, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Post.

With Bridges struggling and seeing reduced minutes, including late-game benchings, head coach Mike Brown was asked if sitting him for a game could be an option.

“If our performance group says this guy needs a rest or that guy needs a game to get their body right, mind right, whatever it might be, 100 percent, I’ll give anybody a game,” Brown said.

“That’s something that’s done collectively. I’m not going to say, ‘You sit; you play; you sit; you play,’ because not everybody is the same. But we all have to play better than the way we’re playing right now, especially to start games.”

Bridges has averaged just 6.5 points over his last six games while shooting poorly, and his playing time has dropped compared to earlier in the season.

He was benched late in Sunday’s win over Golden State, with Landry Shamet closing instead, and Jordan Clarkson has also seen more fourth-quarter minutes recently.

“We all have to play better. It’s no secret Mikal has not shot the ball well,” Brown said. “But he’s given us life, at times.”
