
The Washington Wizards visit the Boston Celtics on Saturday night with several rotation players unavailable as both teams try to halt recent losing streaks. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. ET at TD Garden.
Boston enters the matchup with a 43-23 record, holding the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Washington sits near the bottom of the standings at 16-49 and has already been eliminated from playoff contention.
The Wizards arrive in Boston on a difficult stretch after dropping two straight games. Washington lost 136-131 in overtime to the Orlando Magic on March 12 and fell 150-129 to the Miami Heat two days earlier.
Boston is also looking to rebound after consecutive road losses. The Celtics fell 104-102 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 12 after losing 125-116 to the San Antonio Spurs on March 10.
Washington’s injury report includes several notable absences, starting with Anthony Davis, who is out due to a left finger sprain.
D’Angelo Russell is also unavailable and listed as not with the team. Kyshawn George will miss the game because of a left elbow sprain. George has averaged 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists across 48 games this season.
Cam Whitmore remains out due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. The forward has averaged 9.2 points in 21 appearances this season.
Sharife Cooper is listed as questionable with a right ankle sprain. Cooper has provided scoring off the bench, averaging 7.0 points and 2.3 assists in 24 games.
Washington’s offense has leaned heavily on Alex Sarr, who leads the team with 17.2 points while adding 7.6 rebounds per game. Bub Carrington contributes 9.9 points and 4.6 assists while spacing the floor with 38.9 percent three-point shooting.
Bilal Coulibaly also remains a key wing defender and secondary scorer with 10.8 points per game. Tre Johnson adds another perimeter scoring option with 12.5 points while shooting 37.7 percent from three-point range.
Boston’s injury report is lighter but still includes several players being monitored. Derrick White is listed as probable with a right knee contusion after appearing in 63 games this season.
White has been one of Boston’s primary playmakers, averaging 17.5 points and 5.7 assists per game while logging more than 34 minutes per night.
Baylor Scheierman is also probable after dealing with a right ankle sprain. Scheierman has appeared in 61 games and averages 4.9 points in a reserve role.
Nikola Vucevic is out due to a fractured right ring finger. The big man has averaged 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in 12 games this season.
Two-way guard John Tonje is listed as questionable while on G League assignment.
Boston’s offense continues to run through Jaylen Brown, who leads the team with 28.4 points and 7.1 rebounds. Payton Pritchard has also played a major role in the backcourt with 16.8 points and 5.3 assists.
The Celtics have controlled the season series so far, defeating Washington 136-107 on November 5 and 146-101 on December 4.
