Victor Wembanyama delivered a dominant all-around performance Tuesday night, scoring 39 points and grabbing 11 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 125-116 victory over the Boston Celtics at Frost Bank Center.
The win extended San Antonio’s winning streak to five games and completed a two-game season sweep of Boston between the teams that currently hold second place in their respective conferences.
Wembanyama controlled the game offensively with perimeter shooting and interior scoring. The Spurs star matched a career-high with eight three-pointers while finishing 11-of-20 from the field and 8-of-15 from beyond the arc.
The 7-foot-4 forward recorded his 34th career game with at least 30 points, adding three assists and two blocks while anchoring San Antonio’s defense.
De’Aaron Fox provided steady backcourt production with 25 points and nine assists. The point guard attacked the paint and helped generate clean perimeter looks throughout the night.
Stephon Castle contributed 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists while delivering a key shot late in the fourth quarter that secured the outcome.
San Antonio shot 52 percent from the field and converted 20-of-47 from three-point range. The Spurs also controlled the glass with a 44-37 rebounding advantage.
Boston kept the game competitive with strong perimeter scoring. Derrick White led the Celtics with 34 points and seven assists, attacking off the dribble and converting 9-of-11 free throws.
Jayson Tatum added 24 points while continuing his return from the ruptured right Achilles tendon he suffered on May 12, 2025. The forward made four three-pointers and kept Boston within striking distance in the closing minutes.
The Celtics’ offense relied heavily on outside shooting, finishing 19-of-51 from three-point range after opening the game 9-of-17 from deep.
The matchup grew increasingly physical during the first half. Boston All-Star Jaylen Brown was ejected with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter after receiving two technical fouls during an argument with officials following a turnover.
Brown had to be restrained by teammates after the initial technical foul was assessed. A second technical seconds later resulted in an automatic ejection.
Wembanyama also briefly exited during the first half after absorbing contact to the face from Sam Hauser. The Spurs center left the court holding his face before returning later in the quarter.
San Antonio maintained a narrow advantage entering the final minutes. Tatum’s fourth three-pointer cut Boston’s deficit to 118-113 with 1:43 remaining.
Castle responded 18 seconds later with a three-pointer that restored a two-possession lead and halted the Celtics’ comeback attempt.
Boston finished the night shooting 47 percent from the field but struggled to contain San Antonio’s offensive balance and size inside.
The victory reinforced the Spurs’ position near the top of the Western Conference standings as the regular season enters its final stretch.
Boston will continue its road trip Thursday with a matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, while San Antonio remains home to face the Milwaukee Bucks in its next game.
