“Magic City Night” has been canceled at an upcoming Atlanta Hawks game after the NBA stepped in over concerns about promoting a strip club during a league event.

Commissioner Adam Silver explained the decision shortly after the promotion was scrapped.

“When we became aware of the Atlanta Hawks’ scheduled promotion, we reached out to Hawks leadership to better understand their plans and rationale.”

“While we appreciate the team’s perspective and their desire to move forward, we have heard significant concerns from a broad array of league stakeholders, including fans, partners, and employees.”

“I believe canceling this promotion is the right decision for the broader NBA community,” he added.

Luke Kornet of the San Antonio Spurs was an early critic, saying the event sent the wrong message to women associated with the league and urging Atlanta to reconsider.

The Hawks had promoted the night as a celebration of Atlanta culture tied to their matchup with the Orlando Magic, noting no dancers would be involved.

Representatives from Magic City previously emphasized the venue’s broader cultural impact beyond adult entertainment.

Manager Juju Barney told TMZ Sports the club still appreciated the opportunity.

“Magic City & Magic City Kitchen were genuinely hyped to team up with the Hawks,” Juju said. “Even if it didn’t happen, it was an honor just getting picked. Respect to the league, the players, everybody involved. Atlanta Forever.”

Atlanta also confirmed that T.I. will still perform at halftime.

“While we are very disappointed in the NBA’s decision to cancel our Magic City Night promotion, we fully respect its decision,” the team said. “As a franchise, we remain committed to celebrating the best of Atlanta – with authenticity – in ways that continue to unite and bring us all together.”
