After suiting up for two matchups earlier this week, Dallas Mavericks first-year player Cooper Flagg has landed on the injury report again ahead of Sunday’s game in Toronto, according to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.
The young forward, who had previously been sidelined for nearly a month because of a sprain in the middle of his left foot, acknowledged that he still felt discomfort during Friday’s matchup in Boston.
“It was a little awkward,” Flagg explained while discussing the issue that has him officially listed as questionable. “It was a little sore, but it was something I could play through. It was a little tender, but nothing I couldn’t deal with.”
Flagg logged 30 minutes on Friday night, though he briefly exited during the opening quarter after losing his footing and slipping on the court.
Medical staff evaluated him on the sideline, where he completed flexibility and mobility work with a trainer and spent additional time pedaling on a stationary bike before eventually checking back into the game.
Across his two appearances since returning from injury, Flagg has struggled with efficiency, making just 14 of his 45 shot attempts.
However, he believes the rust from his extended absence is the main reason for the shooting slump rather than any lingering physical limitation.
“I’m getting to my spots and taking the shots I want,” Flagg said. “They’re just not falling right now. It’s about getting my rhythm and touch back, and I’m not worried about it.”
