Sixers center Joel Embiid is expected to miss at least several more games after sitting out the past three with a strained right oblique, according to Adam Aaronson of PhillyVoice.

The team announced Embiid did not practice on Friday and has yet to resume any on-court activity since the injury.

He is scheduled to be reevaluated in about a week, a timeline that will likely keep him sidelined for upcoming games in Atlanta, Cleveland, and at home against Memphis, and possibly a road matchup in Detroit as well.

Embiid has been limited to 33 appearances this season due to injuries affecting his knee, ankle, shin, and oblique.

While he has not returned to his MVP form, he has performed better than last season, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in just over 31 minutes per game with a .495/.318/.858 shooting line.

The Sixers also provided other health updates. Forward Kelly Oubre Jr. is expected to return Saturday after missing two games with an illness.

Rookie guard VJ Edgecombe did not practice Friday after suffering a lumbar contusion earlier in the week and remains questionable for the team’s next game.
