Jamal Murray exited the Denver Nuggets’ 143-103 defeat against the New York Knicks shortly before halftime after injuring his left ankle, leaving the team without one of its primary offensive threats for the remainder of the game.

Head coach David Adelman said there was no immediate diagnosis following the game and that the medical staff would evaluate Murray more thoroughly the next day.

“No, they’re going to look at it tomorrow,” Adelman said. “He’s really sore. You guys all know Jamal. When he sprains his ankle, he usually comes back and plays [quickly].”

The injury happened during a drive to the basket when Murray collided with OG Anunoby and then inadvertently stepped on teammate Nikola Jokic’s foot, causing him to lose balance and roll the ankle.

Meanwhile, Aaron Gordon made his return to the Nuggets’ lineup, contributing modestly as he finished with three points while playing 21 minutes as he worked his way back into game condition.
