The Detroit Pistons continued their dominance Sunday night, rallying past the Orlando Magic 106-92 at Kia Center to extend their road winning streak to six games.
Cade Cunningham finished with 29 points and 11 assists, controlling tempo after halftime as Detroit erased a seven-point deficit. The All-Star guard shot 11-of-25 from the field and added six rebounds despite committing five turnovers.
Tobias Harris provided 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including a go-ahead 3-pointer midway through the third quarter. That basket sparked an 11-0 run that shifted momentum for good.
The Eastern Conference leaders trailed 57-50 at halftime after missing their first 15 attempts from beyond the arc. They finished just 4-of-30 from three but compensated with defense, rebounding and free throws.
Detroit outscored Orlando 56-35 in the second half. The Magic shot 30.7% after the break and committed 19 turnovers overall.
Jalen Duren recorded 16 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring a frontcourt that helped the visitors win the rebounding battle 56-41. Ausar Thompson added 11 boards, while the Pistons collected 14 offensive rebounds that created extra possessions.
The league’s top team improved to 45-14 and has won eight of its last nine games. Detroit is now 21-7 on the road and 10-1 in its past 11 away contests.
Orlando, which fell to 31-28, was led by Paolo Banchero’s 24 points and 11 rebounds. The forward also committed nine turnovers, a key factor against an aggressive defense that forced 14 steals.
Tristan da Silva scored 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting, and Desmond Bane added 17 points and seven assists. The Magic shot 38% overall and 10-of-36 from three-point range.
The loss marked another third-quarter slide for Orlando, which squandered a 19-point lead in less than four minutes in a defeat to Houston on Friday. On Sunday, the offense stalled once Detroit increased ball pressure and tightened rotations.
Isaiah Stewart served the final game of his seven-game suspension stemming from an altercation at Charlotte on Feb. 9. Orlando guard Anthony Black missed his first game of the season due to a strained right quad.
The Pistons visit Cleveland on Tuesday night in a matchup of Eastern Conference contenders. The Magic return home to face Washington the same evening.
