Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg is still dealing with a left midfoot sprain and missed his sixth straight game Friday because of the injury.
The former No. 1 overall pick is expected to remain out for at least two more games, according to Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal.
“Probably not that he will play,” head coach Jason Kidd said when asked about Flagg’s availability for Tuesday’s road game in Charlotte.
Dallas hosts Oklahoma City on Sunday before beginning a six-game road trip that starts against the Hornets.
Flagg’s main Rookie of the Year rival is Charlotte wing Kon Knueppel, his former Duke teammate and roommate.
Afseth notes the Mavericks initially expected Flagg to return after the All-Star break, but he has not played since sustaining the injury on February 10, which was confirmed by MRI.
There has been speculation around the league that Dallas could shut Flagg down for the rest of the season to protect his long-term health and improve draft positioning.
The team has not addressed those rumors publicly, and Kidd has not indicated that such a move is being considered.
In 49 games this season (34.1 MPG), Flagg is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting .482/.302/.804.
