Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr provided an update on Kristaps Porzingis’ availability for Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center. Porzingis is listed as questionable, with Kerr noting on Willard And Dibs, “The hope is definitely that he’ll be able to play tomorrow,” according to 95.7 The Game.
Kerr addressed recent reports about Porzingis allegedly suffering from POTS, confirming that the claim is inaccurate. “After the trade…I called Onsi Saleh, Atlanta’s GM, and I asked, ‘Is this POTS story real?’ He said, ‘It’s actually not POTS.’ So that was some misinformation that was out there,” Kerr explained.
The coach added that while Porzingis’ issue was difficult to diagnose, it is not related to POTS. “I got confirmation that it was not POTS but it was something else that was really difficult to figure out…Sometimes there’s just mysterious stuff,” Kerr said.
Porzingis’ availability is particularly significant for Golden State, which is already without Stephen Curry (right patellofemoral pain syndrome), Jimmy Butler (right ACL recovery), and Seth Curry (left sciatic nerve irritation). Draymond Green is probable with a left low back issue, while LJ Cryer is unavailable on a two-way G League assignment.
The Lakers also enter the matchup with notable absences. Rui Hachimura is doubtful due to illness, and Bronny James and Adou Thiero are in the G League.
This situation leaves the Lakers relying on Luka Doncic, who is averaging 32.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. Austin Reaves and LeBron James provide additional scoring, with Deandre Ayton anchoring the interior.
Golden State has leaned on Brandin Podziemski and Moses Moody to carry the offensive load in the absence of their stars. Podziemski averages 12.3 points per game, while Moody contributes 12 points and 2.5 three-pointers per contest. Green remains critical for defensive and playmaking support.
The Warriors hold an 8th-place record at 31-28, while the Lakers sit 6th at 34-24 in the Western Conference. Both teams have split their previous matchups this season, with the Lakers winning 105-99 at home on February 7 and the Warriors taking a 119-109 victory on October 21.
Saturday’s game could influence playoff positioning, and Porzingis’ status will play a key role in Golden State’s rotation and scoring potential. The matchup tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET.
