Before the Los Angeles Clippers began the second half of their schedule on Thursday, Janis Carr of The Orange County Register (subscription required) examined how the team is adjusting to its trade deadline additions, including Bennedict Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, and injured point guard Darius Garland.
Mathurin said familiarity with his style of play has helped ease the transition, though he acknowledged there is still plenty of adjustment ahead as he learns the team’s structure both on and off the court.
The forward, who is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, expressed optimism about his opportunity with Los Angeles.
“Everybody is pretty familiar with my game, so it kind of helps a lot,” Mathurin said. “I think that there’s still a lot more to do, still a lot more to learn with the system, offensive, defensive and especially off the court as well.
“… I just feel like I kind of get the chance to do it even more over here (with the Clippers). I think it is going to go to a different level.”
Mathurin has played 4 seasons for the Pacers and Clippers. He has averaged 16.1 points and 4.6 rebounds in 240 regular-season games.
