Giannis Antetokounmpo called Charlotte Hornets rookie Kon Knueppel “one of the smartest rookies I’ve ever seen… one of the most competitive players that I’ve seen as a rookie. You already got it, and you’re only gonna get better.”

Knueppel, 20, is in his first season with the Hornets and has started 53 of 54 games, averaging 32.1 minutes per contest. He is producing 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 48.4% from the field and 43.1% from three-point range.

Charlotte sits 9th in the Eastern Conference at 26-29, fighting for a playoff spot behind leaders like the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics. Knueppel’s consistent scoring and efficiency have made him a key contributor to the team’s push toward the postseason.

The rookie has already demonstrated strong defensive instincts, averaging 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks per game, while maintaining a low turnover rate of 2.2 per game. His versatility at the small forward position allows him to complement established stars Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball.

Knueppel’s shooting and playmaking efficiency set him apart from typical first-year players. He averages 3.4 three-point makes on 7.9 attempts per game, showcasing an advanced perimeter game alongside 90.2% free throw shooting.
