The Detroit Pistons survived a tight clash against the Denver Nuggets 124-121, winning five of their six games on Tuesday night.
All-Star Cade Cunningham led the Pistons 29 points and 10 assists, Jalen Durent added 19 and 13 rebounds, and Duncan Robinson dropped 20 points.
On the other hand, Nuggets’ Jamal Murray tallied 32 points and eight assists, while Nikola Jokic had 24 points and 15 rebounds.
Denver never led, but Jokic got them within two possessions, 112-107, with 2:33 to play and Murray’s three-pointer made it a two-point game after a Detroit miss.
Pistons’ Tobias Harris answered with a three-pointer on Detroit’s next possession, and the teams traded baskets to make it 117-112 with 1:15 left.
Detroit finally got a stop with 33 seconds left and clinched the game from the free-throw line.
The Pistons outscored the Nuggets 37-23 in the second quarter to build a 69-50 halftime lead, until they pulled out to a 20 point lead early in the third, but Denver cut the margin to 93-80 by the end of the quarter.
Denver will visit New York on Wednesday, while the Pistons host the Wizards on Thursday.
