The Washington Wizards are adding frontcourt depth ahead of the trade deadline by signing center Skal Labissiere to a 10-day contract. NBA insider Shams Charania reported the move Tuesday, citing the player’s agent Daniel Hazan.
Labissiere joins Washington from the Capital City Go-Go, where he has been one of the most productive big men in the league this season. The 29-year-old has averaged 19.4 points and 8.0 rebounds in 14 games while shooting 57.9 percent from the field and 45.2 percent from three-point range.
The Wizards enter the final stretch before the February trade deadline with a thin frontcourt rotation behind center Alex Sarr. Washington sits 15th in the Eastern Conference at 10-34, prioritizing development while managing injuries and roster turnover.
Labissiere brings prior NBA experience, having appeared in 152 career games across stints with the Kings and Trail Blazers. He last played in the NBA during the 2024-25 season, appearing in four games for Sacramento.
As a former 2016 lottery pick, Labissiere offers a skill set that fits modern frontcourt needs. He has shown touch around the basket, comfort operating in pick-and-pop actions, and the ability to stretch defenses when given spacing.
