Quinten Post discussed Minnesota’s 108-83 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Monday, acknowledging the uphill battle his team faced. “Obviously we missed a lot of guys… they made it tough on us to score. Overall they played a good game,” Post said.
Post highlighted Rudy Gobert’s impact on both ends of the floor. “He was tough. He just clogs up the whole paint… for us to play against him, got to figure out different ways to keep him out of the paint,” he explained.
The Timberwolves overcame a sluggish start, making just two of their first 12 shots and falling behind 16-8 early. Bones Hyland sparked Minnesota’s response, and a 21-4 run late in the second quarter gave the home team a 53-38 halftime lead.
Post also commented on the atmosphere in Minneapolis. “You definitely feel the weight of the city and everything that’s going on… it’s been a weird couple of days for us as a basketball team,” he said, referring to the somber environment surrounding the community.
Reflecting on the local response to recent events, Post expressed admiration for the city. “Some of the things I see from a human standpoint are just unacceptable… it’s great to see the people of Minneapolis stand up. It’s a beautiful thing,” he said.
Minnesota relied on balanced scoring across the roster, with Julius Randle leading with 18 points and seven rebounds. Bones Hyland added 17 points off the bench, while Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo each contributed 15 points. DiVincenzo also added eight assists and five three-pointers.
The Timberwolves finished with a 56-45 rebounding advantage and recorded 10 blocks. Golden State struggled offensively, shooting 23.1% from three-point range and committing 23 turnovers. Quinten Post led the Warriors with 13 points, while Brandin Podziemski added 12 points and seven rebounds.
Minnesota snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 28-19, holding sixth place in the Western Conference. Golden State fell to 26-22, remaining eighth in the standings. Both teams return to the road Wednesday, with the Timberwolves facing Dallas and the Warriors traveling to Utah.
