The Charlotte Hornets delivered one of the most lopsided performances of the NBA season, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 130-93 on Monday afternoon at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The game tipped off at 3 p.m. local time after being moved earlier in the day because of Winter Storm Fern.
Brandon Miller led all scorers with 30 points, continuing his strong second-season production for Charlotte. The wing shot 9-for-11 from the field, knocked down six 3-pointers, and added eight rebounds in 27 minutes.
The contest was competitive early, with Charlotte holding a 28-22 edge after the first quarter. The Hornets then seized full control by outscoring Philadelphia 81-37 over the next two quarters, building a 109-59 lead entering the fourth.
Charlotte became the first NBA team since the Phoenix Suns in February 2009 to lead by at least 50 points in two games within the same calendar month. The franchise had only one such occurrence in the play-by-play era prior to January.
All five starters for the home team finished in double figures, reflecting balanced offensive execution. Kon Knueppel and Moussa Diabate each scored 12 points, LaMelo Ball added 11 points and eight assists, and Miles Bridges finished with 10 points in just 19 minutes.
Ryan Kalkbrenner provided a strong bench contribution with 13 points and nine rebounds. Charlotte shot 57 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range, while recording 34 assists on 47 made baskets.
Philadelphia struggled to generate consistent offense, finishing at 39 percent shooting overall and 30 percent from beyond the arc. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the visitors with 17 points, while rookies Jared McCain and Quentin Grimes added 16 and 14 points, respectively.
Tyrese Maxey was limited to a season-low six points on 3-for-12 shooting in 25 minutes. The All-Star guard also committed three turnovers, and his scoring average dropped to 29.4 points per game following the loss.
Despite outscoring Charlotte 34-21 in the fourth quarter, the 76ers suffered their second-worst defeat of the season. Their largest previous loss came in a 41-point setback against Orlando on Nov. 25.
The result improved Charlotte to 19-28 on the season and marked its first three-game winning streak of the 2025-26 campaign. Philadelphia fell to 24-21, remaining sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The 76ers will host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, while the Hornets travel to Memphis for a matchup on Wednesday.
