Brooklyn Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez faced the media Wednesday night after New York crushed his team 120-66 at Madison Square Garden, marking the franchise’s most lopsided victory in history.

“Work and have positive energy. So, I believe in the players, I believe in the coaches and this doesn’t stop the plan that we have,” Fernandez said. “It’s just, you know, obviously a tough experience to go through, but we’ll be better. Me the first one.”

On the Nets’ struggles in the fourth quarter, when the Knicks outscored them 16-0, Fernandez added: “Yeah, I mean just, you know, just continue to try to do the right things.”

When asked why the matchup against the Knicks has consistently been lopsided, Fernandez replied: “Yeah, I don’t know. I disagree with you. Yeah, we’ve had two really bad losses, but I don’t think like my analytics people would say, I don’t have enough simple size to give you an answer. So, probably we can agree to disagree.”

Regarding his team’s preparedness, Fernandez took responsibility. “Yeah, it was my fault. I didn’t prepare them well enough to play.”

Answering questions in Spanish from a reporter, Fernandez emphasized his accountability: “It was a pretty disastrous game, perhaps the worst we’ve had so far, a painful experience, but the players have to understand that it is my responsibility. I am the one who has to help them compete better. And with the coaching staff we have and the human quality of the players, I have no doubt that we can be better than what we showed today.”

On the potential NBA expansion in Europe, Fernandez said: “Regarding NBA Europe, I don’t have much information. I know the league intends to carry out a promising project in Europe, as you mentioned, but I can’t give any more details.”

The Nets, who have lost eight of nine games, saw Michael Porter Jr. lead the team with just 12 points, while Brooklyn struggled with shooting, converting only 29 percent from the field.

New York, ending a four-game losing streak, led by as much as 59 points, with Jalen Brunson scoring 20 and Landry Shamet going 6-for-6 on three-pointers for 18 points.
