Injured guard Austin Reaves is “progressing well” from his Grade 2 left gastrocnemius (calf) strain and is on track to return to action at some point during the Lakers‘ road trip, head coach JJ Redick told reporters on Tuesday, via Dan Woike of The Athletic.

According to reporting from Mike Trudell of Spectrum SportsNet, the Lakers’ current eight-game road swing began Tuesday night in Denver and will wrap up on February 3 in Brooklyn.

Reaves’ potential return during that stretch would provide a significant boost as Los Angeles navigates a demanding portion of its schedule away from home.

The player has been sidelined since suffering the injury in a Christmas Day loss to the Houston Rockets. Before going down, he was enjoying the most productive stretch of his career.

The fifth-year guard was averaging 26.6 points, 6.3 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game while shooting .502 from the field, .365 from three-point range and .873 at the free-throw line across 23 appearances, logging 35.3 minutes per night.
