Kawhi Leonard will not complete the current road trip with the Los Angeles Clippers, as the team announced he has been sent back to Los Angeles for treatment on his injured left knee.

Leonard will miss the final two games of the trip, with the Clippers set to face Washington on Monday and Chicago on Tuesday.

Leonard missed Friday’s overtime win in Toronto due to a right ankle sprain and a contusion on his left knee, and ongoing irritation in that knee remains the concern.

He is scheduled to be re-evaluated once the team returns home on Wednesday.

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the injury is not considered serious and stems from a January 10 win in Detroit.

The 33-year-old previously missed 10 games in November with foot and ankle injuries, and Los Angeles has gone 3-8 without him this season.

When available, Leonard has fueled the Clippers’ turnaround, as the team has surged from a 6-21 start to an 18-23 record, currently sitting 10th in the Western Conference.

In 30 games this season, Leonard is averaging a career-high 28.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game while shooting .499/.399/.941.

With Leonard out, two-way players Kobe Sanders and Jordan Miller are expected to see increased minutes.
