The Miami Heat overcame the strong Oklahoma City Thunder 122-120, after Andrew Wiggins made the clutch three-pointer with 31 seconds left to put them up for good on Saturday evening.
Bam Adebayo dropped 30 points with a career-best six three-pointers, Norman Powell added 19, while Pelle Larsson contributed 16, Simone Fontecchio and Myron Gardner combined for 24 points off the Heat bench.
On the other hand, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 39 points, Aaron Wiggins dropped 18, Ajay Mitchell 15, and Chet Holmgren added 14 points.
Oklahoma City lost Jalen Williams midway through the second quarter with what the team said was right thigh soreness, even though the starting guard was grabbing at his right hamstring as he limped off the floor.
The Thunder had a chance to tie on the possession following Andrew Wiggins’ go-ahead three, but Holmgren missed off a lobbed inbound pass from Alex Caruso.
Miami controlled the rebound after the stop, calling time with 3 seconds remaining.
The Heat took 111 shots to the Thunder’s 77, as played shorthanded without Tyler Herro and Jaime Jacquez Jr.
Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander scored at least 20 points in his 113th consecutive regular-season game, moving within 13 games of tying Wilt Chamberlain’s record and 77th time scoring 30 or more points.
Both teams will play on Monday, as the Thunder visit the Cavaliers, while Miami plays at Golden State.
