Victor Wembanyama played a central role in lifting the San Antonio Spurs to a road victory Saturday against the Boston Celtics, as detailed by Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News.

After a measured start, Wembanyama asserted himself after halftime, scoring 16 of his 21 points in the second half and delivering crucial jump shots late that swung the outcome firmly in San Antonio’s favor.

Reflecting on the closing stretch, Wembanyama emphasized his mindset, saying, “My mindset was just we have to close out that game.”

He expanded on that thought by pointing to a recurring issue the team has faced, explaining, “I think too often, I mean it’s easier said than done, but too often we do lots of efforts and let it go to waste one way or the other. So, I felt like not letting that happen.”

The performance came as Wembanyama continues to work his way back into full form.

He has come off the bench in three straight games after a knee injury sidelined him for two contests, a move designed to ease him back without overloading him too quickly.

Even in a reserve role, his impact has remained unmistakable. Looking ahead, Wembanyama made it clear that the bench assignment is temporary.

“The goal is to start soon and to keep it that way for the rest of the season,” he said.
