Michael Porter Jr. is enjoying a breakout season, and the Brooklyn Nets appear poised to take advantage of it on the trade market.
League chatter suggests Brooklyn is strongly considering moving Porter before next month’s deadline, with one source describing a deal as all but guaranteed.
In his eighth NBA season, Porter is averaging 25.9 points per game, nearly seven more than his previous career high.
The production has been efficient, too, as he’s shooting 49 percent from the field and just under 40 percent from three while attempting a career-high 9.4 shots per game from deep.
Porter’s strong play may also be complicating Brooklyn’s long-term plans.
The Nets, who are 11-24 entering Sunday, would prefer to maximize their draft position in 2026, the final year they control their own first-round pick until 2028.
With the 2026 class viewed as especially strong, Brooklyn currently projects to enter the lottery with the fifth-best odds.
