Knicks head coach Mike Brown made it clear that, in his view, there is no debate about Karl-Anthony Towns’ status as an All-Star this season, according to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News.
Brown pointed to both production and team success as clear indicators of Towns’ value, emphasizing that his numbers alone make a strong case.
“KAT’s averaging a double-double. He’s over 20 points a game and over 10 rebounds a game,” the coach said.
He added that team context matters as well, noting that when a player is performing at that level while helping a team sit near the top of the standings, recognition should follow.
“And if you’re a top-three team in either conference and you’re the second-leading scorer – [and] the leading rebounder – you’re an All-Star. There’s no question about it.”
Brown even suggested the discussion shouldn’t stop there, adding, “The only question is: Is he first, second, or third team All-NBA, you know?”
Despite those endorsements, Towns hasn’t had his most efficient shooting season. His field-goal percentage currently sits at a career low, reflecting a stretch of inconsistency that’s been unusual for him.
Still, his overall impact has remained strong, especially as he adapts to a significantly different role within Brown’s offensive system.
