Los Angeles Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. will be available for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Pistons after missing more than a month with a sprained MCL, according to Shams Charania.

Jones has been sidelined since November 16, during a period in which the Clippers have won three consecutive games.

The 6-foot-6 forward has averaged 10.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 13 games this season while logging 24.9 minutes per contest. His defensive versatility and athleticism are expected to boost Los Angeles’ frontcourt depth as they continue their push to climb the standings.

The Clippers, currently 9-21, rely heavily on stars James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, who are averaging 26.3 and 26.2 points per game, respectively. Jones’ return could ease the scoring and rebounding load on the duo while providing added perimeter defense.

Jones’ presence also allows the Clippers to reintroduce small-ball lineups and improve rotation flexibility. His ability to guard multiple positions has been a key factor in prior lineups, particularly during transition and defensive switch scenarios.

Coach Tyronn Lue will likely monitor Jones’ minutes carefully as he eases back from the MCL injury. A gradual ramp-up is expected to avoid setbacks while maximizing his effectiveness in key game moments.
