Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with 28 points but expressed frustration after the Timberwolves fell 123-107 to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday at Target Center. “I don’t know what Finchy [coach Chris Finch] say…they played better than us. That’s what I saw,” Edwards said.

When asked about the team’s defensive lapses, Edwards acknowledged the effort but noted the result. “We just couldn’t win the game. They played better than us,” he said, referencing Brooklyn’s ability to control the paint and maintain offensive momentum.

Edwards dismissed the idea of being surprised by Brooklyn’s approach. “Ambush? Oh. Um nah. It was a great scout. We knew everything they was gonna do. I guess they was just better than us,” he explained.

On consistency, Edwards admitted uncertainty. “I don’t know. It be the same answers every time. I guess we got to change something. I don’t know what it is,” he said when asked how Minnesota can perform at a higher level from game to game.

He addressed questions about a potential letdown after the team’s emotional Christmas game. “Nah. We got to win this game. We just, you know, couldn’t do it,” Edwards said, stressing accountability for the loss.

Edwards also touched on team energy. “Yeah, I feel like that. We got booed by the fans today. I’m with the fans. I would have booed us too. Lack of energy. I don’t know what’s going on. Guess this is just Timberwolves basketball,” he stated.

Despite the loss, Edwards’ scoring paced Minnesota, with Jaden McDaniels adding 16 points and both Naz Reid and Julius Randle contributing 13 each. The Timberwolves were unable to close the gap against a balanced Brooklyn attack led by Cam Thomas, who scored 30 points in under 20 minutes.

Brooklyn’s Michael Porter Jr. added 27 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Nets improve to 10-19 overall and maintain their hot December streak, allowing an NBA-low 103.1 points per game this month. Minnesota now drops to 20-12, heading into a four-game road trip starting in Chicago on Monday.
