Real Madrid secured a thrilling 95-90 victory over Paris Basketball on Thursday at Movistar Arena, with Theo Maledon scoring the millionth point in EuroLeague history.
Maledon led the hosts with 21 points, hitting 7-of-11 two-pointers and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line, while also contributing a crucial late scoop that sealed the win. Trey Lyles added 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two blocks, and Usman Garuba chipped in eight points as Madrid outscored Paris 18-4 in a decisive fourth-quarter run.
Mario Hezonja added six points, while veteran Sergio Llull finished with 16 points and key plays down the stretch. Madrid dominated the boards 41-38 and forced 12 Paris turnovers, converting defensive stops into fast-break points.
Paris Basketball produced a strong challenge, with Jared Rhoden pacing the visitors with 19 points, including a highlight-reel dunk over Walter Tavares. Yakuba Ouattara added 14 points, while Jeremy Morgan and Nadir Hifi contributed 10 and 11 points respectively. Despite shooting 44.1% from three, the French side could not maintain their late lead.
After three quarters, Paris led 74-70, but Real’s combination of Maledon, Lyles, and Garuba in the final period swung momentum in favor of the hosts. The win allowed Madrid to bounce back from a loss at Milan two days earlier.
With the victory, Real Madrid improves to 10-7, while Paris falls to 5-12. Madrid will host AS Monaco next Friday, while Paris Basketball faces Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade at home on Tuesday.
