Fresh off an emotional win over the Spurs to secure the NBA Cup, the Knicks are enjoying the moment but not losing sight of their larger ambitions.

Inside the organization, the ultimate goal remains a deep postseason run and a legitimate shot at the NBA Finals. Even so, that focus has not translated into urgency on the trade market.

New York’s roster is both expensive and relatively inflexible, with limited movable assets outside of its core contributors.

That reality makes it unclear how team president Leon Rose would address any perceived weaknesses during the season. For now, however, the front office is comfortable with where the team stands, according to SNY’s Ian Begley.

“As we sit here today, the Knicks are not in a rush to make a huge deal,” Begley said on a recent episode of The Putback.

That doesn’t mean the Knicks are disengaged from league-wide conversations. Begley reiterated that New York would have interest in Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado if New Orleans decides to make him available.

He also noted that the Knicks would likely be among several teams monitoring the situation with Dennis Schröder should the Kings explore a trade, though Schröder’s larger salary and guaranteed years on his contract could complicate any potential move.

In the frontcourt, New York continues to keep an eye on possible depth options behind Mitchell Robinson, whose availability has been inconsistent due to injuries.

Begley pointed out that the Knicks have previously shown interest in 76ers center Andre Drummond, viewing him as a possible insurance option if the need arises.

For now, though, the team appears content to ride its current momentum rather than force a major roster shakeup.
