Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on Wednesday night, knocking off AS Monaco 85–73 at Buesa Arena to snap a seven-game head-to-head losing streak.
The victory marked Baskonia’s first win over Monaco since October 2021 and reinforced the idea that form and standings carry little weight on a given EuroLeague night.
Forrest’s return has quickly reshaped Baskonia’s identity after the guard missed nine games with injury.
Playing just his second game back, Forrest controlled the contest from start to finish, finishing with 17 points on 5-of-7 shooting while leading the team in rebounds with seven, assists with five, and adding two blocks.
Baskonia outscored Monaco by 30 points with Forrest on the floor in his 24 minutes, a figure that reflected his two-way influence and pace control.
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot led all scorers with 19 points and provided timely baskets whenever Monaco threatened to swing momentum.
Gytis Radzevicius continued his strong early run with Baskonia, scoring 12 points and drawing praise from teammates for his adaptability on both ends.
Baskonia briefly wobbled in the third quarter when Monaco erased much of a 16-point deficit with a 14–0 run, but the hosts responded immediately.
A Forrest assist to Luwawu-Cabarrot for a dunk, followed by a banked three from Clement Frisch and a late-clock jumper from Matteo Spagnolo, restored control.
From that point on, Baskonia answered every Monaco push with poise and shot-making.
Monaco was led by Mike James, who finished with 21 points, while Daniel Theis added 10 and Alpha Diallo chipped in nine.
The visitors struggled from the perimeter, shooting just 21.1 percent from three-point range, and never fully recovered after Baskonia’s second-quarter surge.
The win improved Baskonia to 6–10 overall and extended its home winning streak to six games, though the Spanish side remains winless on the road.
Monaco dropped to 9–7 and now turns its attention to a home matchup with Bayern Munich, while Baskonia travels to face Barcelona looking to translate this performance away from Vitoria-Gasteiz.
