Veteran point guard Chris Paul could be on the move as the Los Angeles Clippers seek to find a suitable landing spot for the 21-season veteran. According to Jake Fischer, the Clippers plan to work closely with Paul and his representatives at CAA once the December 15 trade window opens.
Marc Stein noted that teams such as the Bucks, Mavericks, and Hornets had expressed interest over the summer, but Paul’s initial preference had been to remain no farther from L.A. than Phoenix.
Now, Paul is reportedly willing to consider a variety of destinations in search of a role where he can contribute meaningfully and close his career on his terms. “Because things went so poorly with the Clippers, I think he’s open,” Stein said, via HoopsHype, noting the former All-Star’s desire to craft a final chapter he is satisfied with.
Chris Haynes reported that a “handful” of teams have already reached out to gauge Paul’s availability, giving him multiple options once the trade window opens.
The Clippers, sitting at 6-19, appear ready to facilitate a move, with Paul likely the team’s most movable player.
Over his career, Paul has played for seven teams, including the Clippers and Hornets, compiling 16.8 points, 9.2 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game across 1,370 regular-season contests. He is a 12-time All-Star and former Rookie of the Year, making him a high-profile acquisition for teams seeking veteran leadership and playmaking.
With the trade window imminent, all eyes will be on Los Angeles and Paul’s camp as they explore opportunities that align with both his career goals and teams’ needs.
