The Atlanta Hawks have made it clear around the league that Jalen Johnson is not a player they are willing to discuss in trade negotiations.

Rival teams have been informed that the organization views the young forward as a foundational piece, effectively removing him from any realistic trade scenarios.

Johnson took a major step forward last season before injuries slowed his momentum, but with improved health this year, his development has continued to accelerate.

In his fifth NBA season, he has elevated his game across nearly every statistical category, emerging as a do-it-all presence for Atlanta.

The 6-foot-8 forward is currently posting career-best numbers, averaging 23.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.

His efficiency has also stood out, as he’s shooting 53 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 81 percent from the free-throw line, reinforcing his status as one of the league’s most improved players.

Beyond Johnson, Atlanta is also placing significant value on a future first-round pick acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans in last year’s draft.

The selection will be the more favorable of the Pelicans’ and Bucks’ picks, with the lesser of the two going to Milwaukee.

That asset came to the Hawks when New Orleans traded back into the draft to select Derik Queen, further strengthening Atlanta’s long-term outlook.
