Cleveland will be without Evan Mobley for the next several weeks after the team announced that he is dealing with a left calf strain.
The injury occurred during Friday’s win over the Wizards and is expected to keep Mobley sidelined for roughly two to four weeks, creating a notable hole in the Cavaliers’ frontcourt rotation.
Mobley had been one of Cleveland’s most consistent contributors to start the season, appearing in all but one of the team’s first 26 games.
He was also producing the best offensive numbers of his career, averaging 19.1 points per game while setting a personal high in assists at 4.1.
Along with his scoring and playmaking, Mobley continued to anchor the defense, pulling down 9.3 rebounds per contest and adding strong rim protection and ball disruption.
His absence adds to an already lengthy injury list for the Cavaliers. Max Strus has yet to play this season while recovering from a fractured foot, and both Jarrett Allen and Sam Merrill are currently sidelined with hand-related injuries.
Larry Nance Jr. is also out with a calf issue, leaving Cleveland thin in the frontcourt.
Earlier in the year, Darius Garland and De’Andre Hunter have also missed time, forcing the Cavaliers to constantly adjust their rotation as they navigate another stretch affected by injuries.
