As Jason Beede of The Orlando Sentinel details, the Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley is no stranger to navigating stretches without one of his top forwards.

Orlando has dealt with similar situations recently – Paolo Banchero only came back on Friday after sitting out 10 games due to a groin strain, and Franz Wagner missed 20 games last season because of a torn abdominal muscle.

Reflecting on those previous challenges, Mosley explained how the team draws on that experience.

“You always lean on the things that have happened in the past a little bit to take that experience,” Mosley said. “But we’ve got to learn from it. What are we going to do? And how are we going to play?”

Mosley acknowledged that losing players is never something a team hopes to go through, but emphasized that Orlando has built its identity on depth and defensive resilience.

“You don’t want to see anybody go down, but we talked about our depth and our defense being our strong suits, so our guys are going to have to step up to the plate, depending on how long guys are out for,” he added.
