Desmond Bane scored 37 points, including 18 in the fourth quarter, as the Orlando Magic defeated the Chicago Bulls 125-120 on Monday night at Kia Center.
The guard shot 12-for-17 from the field and added six rebounds and five assists. His go-ahead three-pointer with 3:23 left initiated an 8-0 push that shifted the momentum.
He later hit a free throw that extended the lead to 117-111 with 2:11 remaining. Orlando moved to 13-8 with its sixth win in the last seven games.
Franz Wagner produced 25 points on 11-for-18 shooting. He also collected six rebounds and contributed two assists.
Anthony Black came off the bench to score 22 points and gather nine rebounds. He made eight of his 15 attempts and added three assists.
Wendell Carter Jr. finished with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting. The center also grabbed six boards and provided a strong interior presence.
Orlando shot 51 percent from the field and produced a 46-43 edge on the glass. The Magic also went 26-for-33 at the line.
Chicago dropped to 9-11 with its fourth straight defeat. The visitors shot 50 percent overall and made 16 threes but could not close the game in the final minutes.
Josh Giddey led the Bulls with 22 points, nine rebounds and six assists. He shot 8-for-14 and made three triples.
Matas Buzelis scored 21 points in 36 minutes and added six rebounds and four assists. The rookie also made two steals.
Nikola Vucevic contributed 20 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 9-for-13 from the floor. The center posted four assists and two steals.
Tre Jones scored 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting in his reserve role. Ayo Dosunmu added 18 points and seven assists while making four threes.
Chicago held a 15-point advantage in the third quarter after keeping Orlando without a field goal for the first five minutes of the period. The Bulls controlled the pace behind Giddey’s playmaking and Buzelis’ scoring.
The Magic recovered when Bane connected from deep and Noah Penda converted a driving dunk to tie the score at 85 entering the fourth. Orlando then posted a 40-point final period.
The Bulls finished with 20 turnovers, while the Magic committed 17. Orlando produced 12 steals and 11 blocks across the rotation.
Chicago returns home to face the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. Orlando continues its three-game homestand that same night against the San Antonio Spurs.
