LeBron James emphasized his willingness to adjust to whatever role the team needs as he integrates with Luka Doncic in Los Angeles.

“All I care about is winning. I’ve done everything in my career including winning. I want to continue that so I will very easily fit myself right on in at whatever capacity the team needs me to be in,” James said on Mind the Game podcast with Steve Nash.

The Lakers enter Friday’s NBA Cup clash against the Dallas Mavericks riding a five-game winning streak and holding a 13–4 record. Luka Doncic continues to lead the charge with 35.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game over 13 contests.

Austin Reaves is providing critical secondary scoring with 27.9 points and 7.0 assists, while Rui Hachimura adds 14.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

LeBron’s adaptation to a complementary role is expected to maximize the effectiveness of this supporting cast while keeping the Lakers’ high-powered offense consistent.

Dallas comes off a 96–102 loss to Memphis and will be without Kyrie Irving, Dereck Lively II, and Dante Exum due to injuries, with Anthony Davis listed as questionable. Cooper Flagg has returned to action, providing 15.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, and will be a key factor if Dallas hopes to slow down Los Angeles’ attack.

The Lakers’ frontcourt has minor injury concerns, with Deandre Ayton probable and Marcus Smart questionable, but the rotation remains largely intact.

LeBron’s flexibility allows coach JJ Redick to manage minutes strategically, giving Doncic space to run the offense while maintaining a lethal scoring threat.

Los Angeles is relying on its depth, including Jake LaRavia, Jaxson Hayes, and Jarred Vanderbilt, who collectively provide inside scoring, rebounding, and defensive versatility.
