JJ Redick, head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, highlighted team chemistry as a key factor in the 135-118 victory over the Clippers at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, November 25.

“The bench celebrations, guys running over to pick players up, it’s not required but it shows their hearts and how they like each other,” Redick said, reflecting on the team’s spirit during the contest.

Redick praised the fourth-quarter performance of LeBron James and Austin Reaves, noting their efficiency and composure in extending the lead. “Execution offensively was high level,” he said. “Jaxson made multiple pocket decisions against the Blitz, reading the defense well and connecting the offense.”

He also addressed feedback regarding the court’s condition, with some players, including Luka Doncic, slipping during play. “We’ll take a look at it,” Redick said, acknowledging condensation may have contributed to the slippery surface.

The coach touched on Doncic’s career success against the Clippers, calling it a common occurrence for NBA players to have career highs versus certain opponents. “Every player has a team they perform best against,” Redick noted, pointing to Luka’s consistency in previous matchups.

Redick also highlighted the NBA Cup’s influence, noting the added motivation for players from the prize pool. “$53,000 is a lot of money, and it’s motivation for sure,” he said, emphasizing how the tournament adds significance to midseason play.

On the court, Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 43 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists, matching his season high with 32 points in the first half. Austin Reaves added 31 points and nine rebounds, while LeBron James contributed 25 points, including 16 in the second half, helping Los Angeles extend its winning streak to five games.

The Clippers, struggling to contain Doncic, were paced by James Harden with 29 points and nine assists and Kawhi Leonard with 19 points in his second game back from injury. Late in the fourth quarter, a collision between Kris Dunn and Doncic sparked multiple technicals, including an ejection for Dunn, but the Lakers maintained control.

Los Angeles shot 57% overall and 45% from three-point range while dominating the boards 38-29 and committing only 11 turnovers. The win secured the Lakers’ advancement from the NBA Cup group stage, moving their record to 13-4. They will host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, while the Clippers return home to face Memphis.
