Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant will be absent for Monday’s matchup at the Phoenix Suns and Wednesday’s contest against the Golden State Warriors due to a family matter, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. Durant’s absence comes as the Rockets sit at 10-4, holding a top-five record in the Western Conference.
Durant is averaging 24.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 45% from the field through 14 games this season.
His scoring has been critical to Houston’s success, complementing strong contributions from Alperen Sengun, who averages a double-double with 22.7 points and 10 rebounds.
The Rockets have been powered by a balanced attack with Amen Thompson adding 17.2 points and 6.4 rebounds, and Tari Eason contributing 14.9 points per contest. Steven Adams and Clint Capela have anchored the frontcourt, combining for 16.1 rebounds per game.
Monday’s game at Phoenix comes after Houston’s road trip that included a victory over Cleveland on November 19. The Rockets then travel to Chase Center on Wednesday to face Golden State, aiming to protect home-court advantage in the early season.
