The Lakers plan to sign free agent big man Drew Timme to a two-way contract, per Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Los Angeles already has all three two-way slots filled – Nick Smith Jr., Christian Koloko, and Chris Manon – but Siegel reports Smith won’t be waived, meaning either Koloko or Manon will be cut to make room.
Timme, a highly decorated Gonzaga product, went undrafted in 2023 and has spent most of his pro career in the G League. He earned a two-year contract from the Nets late last season after a strong run with their Long Island affiliate.
Brooklyn picked up his team option in June, but because it was non-guaranteed, the Nets ultimately waived him during preseason cuts.
The 25-year-old produced well for Brooklyn late last year, averaging 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in nine NBA games, and followed it up with an impressive Summer League showing.
He’s been dominant for the South Bay Lakers to start the 2025/26 G League season, averaging 28.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in four Tip-Off Tournament games.
Choosing whom to waive won’t be easy for L.A. Manon, an undrafted rookie, has been outstanding in the G League, averaging 18.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and leading the league in steals.
Koloko has also been solid, putting up 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and an eye-catching 4.0 blocks per game in his limited G League action.
