Memphis Grizzlies head coach Tuomas Iisalo praised his team’s collective effort following Thursday’s 137-96 victory over the Sacramento Kings at FedExForum. Iisalo highlighted the team’s focus, energy, and defensive intensity as key factors in snapping a five-game losing streak.

“Very proud of our guys… great to see a day when everything just clicks,” Iisalo said, noting that Memphis combined high effort with efficient ball movement to set a franchise record with 42 assists while committing only seven turnovers.

Iisalo singled out Vince Williams, who recorded a career-high 15 assists, for his role in orchestrating the offense. “Vince really quarterbacked our offense, making great passes inside to Zach and outside to the shooters, keeping the pace really high,” the coach said, adding that Williams has adapted quickly after an extended absence and limited preseason.

Zach Edey’s return from injury also earned praise for stabilizing Memphis’ inside game. “He’s been a big part of that… solidifying our inside defense, putting pressure on the rim, and helping the possession game,” Iisalo said, noting Edey’s efficient contributions in scoring and rebounding.

Frontcourt teammates Santi Aldama and Jock Landale delivered standout performances, with Aldama scoring a career-high 29 points and Landale contributing 21. Iisalo emphasized how the team maximized matchups, finding both players inside to exploit defensive weaknesses. “Both guys were able to shine in the context of the team playing really well together,” he said.

Iisalo discussed the challenges of adapting his offense due to injuries at key positions. “These difficulties create a solution-oriented mindset… trying to find something that works and fast-track the development of other players,” he said, praising his team for executing principles and maintaining tactical cohesion despite personnel changes.

Bench players GG Jackson and Jahmai Mashack also contributed meaningfully, stepping into roles opened by injuries. “GG has stayed ready… and Mashack has been honing his guard skills with the Hustle,” Iisalo said, emphasizing depth and preparation as critical to sustaining the team’s success.

Memphis shot 51% from the field, dominated the boards 49-32, and maintained balanced scoring to keep Sacramento from mounting a comeback. The Grizzlies improved to 5-11 with the win and will travel to Dallas on Saturday, while the Kings fell to 3-13, extending their losing streak to eight games.
