Andrew Wiggins highlighted the contributions of teammates and timely plays as the Miami Heat pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Golden State Warriors 110-96 on Wednesday at Kaseya Center.
“We just found something late, pushed through… Dru had some great plays down the fourth to give us that rhythm on both sides of the floor,” Wiggins said.
Norman Powell led Miami with 25 points, while Bam Adebayo returned from injury to add 20 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Wiggins stressed Adebayo’s impact: “Getting Bam back tonight… especially late in that fourth quarter, he had nine. He’s a big factor on the court offensively and defensively.”
Miami capitalized on Golden State’s depleted roster, which was missing Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Al Horford. The Heat outscored the Warriors 38-22 in the decisive fourth quarter and converted 34 points off 23 turnovers. Wiggins emphasized maintaining focus against a team missing key players: “You just have to keep trying to play your game… can’t let it mess up the flow of the game.”
Kel’el Ware recorded 16 rebounds, anchoring Miami’s late-game dominance and providing stability alongside Wiggins and Powell. Wiggins noted Powell’s fourth-quarter surge as crucial: “He’s been special all year, we knew it was a matter of time before he gets going… the most important time in the game was his fourth quarter.”
Golden State fought back from a 20-4 early deficit to briefly lead 60-59 midway through the third quarter, but a 21-4 run by Miami late in the third and early in the fourth sealed the game. Despite strong performances from Brandin Podziemski (20 points), Quinten Post (19), and Buddy Hield (18), Golden State’s limited depth proved decisive.
The win marked Miami’s ninth in 15 games, reinforcing the team’s ability to capitalize on opponent mistakes while maintaining defensive pressure. Wiggins credited teamwork and veteran leadership for keeping the Heat connected throughout the contest.
Miami (9-6) will face the Chicago Bulls on Friday, while Golden State (9-8) returns home to host the Portland Trail Blazers, both teams looking to adjust after a challenging stretch of games.
