New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby will miss at least two weeks before being reevaluated, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
He left Friday’s game against Miami in the first quarter with a left hamstring strain, which appeared to occur on a fast break when he grabbed at the back of his leg after a missed layup, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
Jordan Clarkson started the second half in his place.
Anunoby had been off to a strong start this season, averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals on efficient shooting through 11 games. With him out, Josh Hart, Landry Shamet and Clarkson are expected to absorb more minutes.
Jalen Brunson also missed Friday’s game after suffering a Grade 1 right ankle sprain late in Wednesday’s loss to Orlando.
Asked why Brunson was still on the floor with the Knicks down 16 in the final two minutes, head coach Mike Brown said, “I’ve been a part of some crazy, crazy comebacks. I’m trying to win the game … A stop and two threes, and it’s a two-possession game.”
Miles McBride started at point guard in Brunson’s absence.
