Cade Cunningham scored 26 points and Jalen Duren added 21 points with 16 rebounds to lead the Detroit Pistons to a 111-108 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Detroit extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 8-2, while Philadelphia, playing without Joel Embiid, fell to 6-4.
Tyrese Maxey led the 76ers with 33 points, while Andre Drummond, starting for Embiid, contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Detroit trailed 101-100 with just under five minutes remaining before Cunningham scored two clutch baskets, including a dunk and free throw, giving the Pistons a 109-104 lead with 1:51 left.
After Maxey narrowed the gap to one, Cunningham hit a fadeaway jumper with 16.9 seconds remaining to secure a three-point advantage. Philadelphia’s last-second 3-pointer rimmed out, sealing the win.
The Pistons overcame a modest fourth-quarter deficit with a balanced attack that included Ausar Thompson’s 14 points and Duncan Robinson’s 17. Duren’s dominance on the boards helped limit second-chance opportunities for the 76ers.
Detroit shot 47.6% from the field and 43.3% from 3-point range, making five of 13 triples in the final quarter. Philadelphia struggled with efficiency from deep, hitting 12 of 33 attempts.
The teams will meet again on Friday in Detroit, with the Pistons aiming to continue their hot streak and Philadelphia looking to regroup against Boston.
