A large fire broke out Thursday morning at the Miami‑Dade County home of the Miami Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra, per Miami Herald.
Fire Rescue crews were dispatched at approximately 4:36 a.m. to a “structure fire at single‑family residence” at 4875 SW 80th St., near Davis Road and Ponce de Leon Boulevard, just west of Coral Gables.
Firefighters arrived to find two structures on the property fully engulfed, prompting a second‑alarm response and a switch to defensive operations after a partial collapse.
Video from the scene shows Spoelstra standing outside his home, visibly distraught as crews battled the flames.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported and the fire did not spread to neighboring homes, but significant damage to the residence has been confirmed.
Property records indicate the 5‑bedroom, 6‑bathroom residence was purchased by Spoelstra in December 2023.
The blaze occurred just hours after the Heat’s charter flight returned from a road game in Denver, landing at 5:11 a.m., while the fire call came in at 4:36 a.m.
Investigators remain on scene, and the cause of the fire is under active review by Miami‑Dade Fire Rescue.
