Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is set to be reevaluated next week as he continues to recover from what head coach Billy Donovan described as a “tricky” calf strain.

However, a return to action isn’t guaranteed even after that evaluation, according to Joe Cowley of The Chicago Sun-Times.

“Just talking to the medical, here’s the problem: Like (White) doesn’t have any pain at all with what he’s doing,” Donovan said Monday, detailing the challenge of gauging White’s readiness.

“He’s on the court shooting, he’s able to jog, but what ended up happening and what became a problem when we were playing competitively in practice were those stops, starts, quick explosiveness that maybe he’s not doing a lot of that in individual workout.”

White has played 6 seasons for the Bulls. He has averaged 15.2 points, 3.8 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 422 regular-season games.
