Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade continued its resurgence under coach Sasa Obradovic, defeating Real Madrid 90-75 before a sold-out Belgrade Arena to close out a perfect EuroLeague week.
Zvezda improved to 3–2 after its third straight win, while Madrid dropped to 3–2 following its first back-to-back losses of the season. Obradovic’s return to the Serbian powerhouse has already produced a noticeable transformation in energy, structure, and belief.
The victory marked Zvezda’s largest-ever win over Real in the modern EuroLeague and snapped a six-game losing streak against the Spanish champions.
Zvezda achieved the result despite being without six rotation players — Devonte’ Graham, Tyson Carter, Uros Plavsic, Isaiah Canaan, Ognjen Dobric, and Joel Bolomboy.
After trailing 31-20 early in the second quarter, the hosts rallied with a 13–2 run led by Chima Moneke, Nikola Kalinic, and Codi Miller-McIntyre to level the score. Once the crowd got involved, Zvezda’s defense took control, limiting Real to just 14 points in the second and third quarters.
Miller-McIntyre orchestrated the offense with 18 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Jordan Nwora matched him with 18 points of his own. Moneke contributed 15 points and seven rebounds, with Kalinic adding 10 points, seven boards, and five assists. Semi Ojeleye, who struggled early in the season, continued his turnaround under Obradovic, producing 13 points and four rebounds.
Real Madrid’s offense sputtered throughout the second half, shooting just 18.5% from three-point range and 60.9% from the free-throw line. Walter Tavares was limited by foul trouble, and guards Facundo Campazzo and Andres Feliz combined for only five points.
Hezonja led Real with 15 points, while Okeke scored 16 off the bench. Trey Lyles added 11 points, and Gabriel Deck contributed 2 points and 3 rebounds in limited minutes.
Zvezda will aim to extend its winning streak when it hosts Baskonia in Round 6, while Real Madrid looks to rebound against Maccabi Tel Aviv.
