LeBron James praised Dennis Schroder’s accomplishments on the Mind the Game podcast, calling him a Hall of Famer in the international basketball scene. The Lakers star highlighted Schroder’s MVP honors at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and EuroBasket 2025 as evidence of his lasting impact.
Steve Nash joined the conversation, noting Schroder’s resume includes EuroBasket MVP, FIBA World Cup MVP, and strong Olympic showings. James agreed, emphasizing that international excellence should factor into Hall of Fame considerations.
Schroder led Germany to its first EuroBasket title since 1993, posting 16 points and 12 assists in the final against Turkey. He averaged 20.3 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds throughout the tournament, earning the EuroBasket MVP award.
At the 2024 Summer Olympics, Schroder served as Germany’s flag bearer alongside judoka Anna-Maria Wagner. He helped the team reach the semifinals, later being named to the FIBA Olympics All-Star Five despite Germany falling short in the bronze medal game.
James pointed out that Schroder’s international accomplishments complement his NBA career, where he has averaged 13.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game over 842 regular-season appearances. While Schroder has not been a consistent All-Star, James stressed his international contributions elevate his legacy.
Schroder’s career in the NBA spans multiple teams, including Atlanta, Oklahoma City, the Lakers, Brooklyn, Golden State, and Detroit. Beyond the stats, his leadership on Team Germany has earned him recognition among basketball’s global elite.
James emphasized that the FIBA Hall of Fame should reflect the totality of a player’s career, including international dominance. He added that Schroder’s achievements set a standard for players who impact the game both in the NBA and on the world stage.
