Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is expected to secure a contract extension worth over $100 million, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer. The 22-year-old swingman enters the final year of his four-year, $27.3 million rookie scale deal.
Fischer reported on The Stein Line that Portland initially proposed a four-year, $90 million extension to Sharpe. Sources indicate the final deal could mirror Josh Giddey’s contract, landing in the four-year, $100 million range or possibly higher.
Sharpe has shown steady improvement since entering the league in 2022, averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists over 31.3 minutes in 72 games during the 2024–25 season. His scoring ability and athleticism have made him a cornerstone for the Blazers’ rebuilding efforts.
The young guard struggled with shooting consistency early in his career but has gained experience as a primary option in Portland’s offense. Analysts note that his upside makes him a priority for long-term investment despite the financial commitment required.
Portland’s front office sees Sharpe as integral to pairing with Scoot Henderson and Jerami Grant to lead the team into playoff contention. The Blazers reportedly view the extension as both a reward for Sharpe’s development and a strategic move to secure a young core.
Sharpe’s performance under head coach Chauncey Billups has also drawn attention from across the league. NBA teams consider him a potential All-Star talent, which increases the urgency for Portland to finalize a contract before the offseason market heats up.
The extension, once agreed upon, would position Sharpe among the highest-paid players of his age group.
