According to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype, the New York Knicks have come to terms with guard Donovan Williams on a training camp contract.
Williams is already familiar with the organization, having played for the Westchester Knicks – the team’s G League affiliate – during the previous season.
In his time there, he put up strong numbers, averaging 17.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
His professional journey has also taken him overseas, with playing experience in both Canada and China. Most recently, he competed in the Canadian Elite Basketball League during the summer.
The 24-year-old guard has had brief exposure to the NBA as well. He appeared in two games for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2022/23 season.
The following year, he was part of the Golden State Warriors’ training camp roster, though he did not make the final cut.
While his new deal gives him the opportunity to take part in Knicks training camp, Williams is unlikely to earn a permanent roster spot.
Instead, the expectation is that he will eventually be waived and redirected back to Westchester.
If he returns to the G League squad and remains with the team for at least 60 days, he will qualify for a bonus worth $85,300.
