Partizan Belgrade announced the signing of Finnish forward Miikka Muurinen, who is set to begin his professional career with a EuroLeague debut.
The 18-year-old prospect was one of the most talked-about names at EuroBasket 2025, where he became the youngest player in the tournament. He helped Finland reach the semifinals and finish fourth, the best result in the nation’s history.
Muurinen averaged 6.6 points and 1.9 rebounds, while earning the EuroBasket Rising Star award. His athletic finishes, including highlight dunks and rim protection, turned him into one of the standout young performers of the summer.
Instead of returning to AZ Compass Prep in the United States, Muurinen has opted to turn professional. His decision was confirmed by DraftExpress’ Jonathan Givony, with his agent Teddy Archer noting that the experience of playing among established pros shaped his outlook on the game.
Standing at 6-foot-11, the forward offers Partizan size, versatility, and above-the-rim ability. With head coach Zeljko Obradovic leading the Serbian club, Muurinen will be integrated into a roster that includes veterans such as Jabari Parker, Isaac Bonga, Carlik Jones, and Vanja Marinkovic.
His arrival gives Partizan another developmental piece as they prepare for the upcoming EuroLeague season. The club, historically one of Europe’s most respected programs, is expected to rely on Muurinen’s energy and athleticism while he gains experience at the professional level.
Scouts already project him as a lottery pick candidate in the 2027 NBA Draft. His move to Belgrade allows him to gain early exposure against top competition while adding depth to a squad looking to compete in both domestic and continental play.
