The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a deal with guard Killian Hayes, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Tthe signing gives the former No. 7 overall pick another chance in the NBA.
Hayes most recently appeared in six games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, where he averaged 9.0 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 38% from three-point range.
The 24-year-old spent most of the 2024–25 campaign with the Long Island Nets in the G League. There, he averaged 16.7 points, 7.3 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per contest across 34 appearances.
His shooting also showed improvement, connecting on 46% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc while attempting five threes per game.
Despite receiving interest from EuroLeague clubs earlier in the year, Hayes remained focused on continuing his career in the NBA. He declined overseas opportunities and instead worked toward earning another roster spot.
Originally drafted by the Detroit Pistons in 2020, Hayes played four seasons in Detroit before joining Brooklyn on a 10-day contract in February 2025.
His career averages now stand at 8.1 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.9 rebounds across 216 NBA games.
At 6-foot-5, Hayes brings size and playmaking to Cleveland’s backcourt rotation. The Cavaliers are looking to add depth behind Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell, while also balancing minutes across a guard-heavy roster.
