Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is expanding his offensive arsenal by working on post-up and mid-range scoring moves modeled after Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, according to NBA insider Shams Charania on NBA Today.
Charania reported that Edwards’ primary offseason focus is developing a post game that includes mid-post touches, fadeaways, and shot creation from multiple spots on the floor.
This adjustment comes after Edwards led the NBA in three-pointers made last season, hitting 320 while averaging 27.6 points per game. His long-range shooting improved significantly, but the Timberwolves’ second straight exit in the Western Conference Finals underscored the need for more versatility in high-pressure moments.
Minnesota reportedly believes Edwards’ new mid-range skill set could become a go-to option in the playoffs, when defensive intensity slows the game and half-court execution is essential.
The 24-year-old guard has been studying hours of film on Jordan and Bryant to replicate how both legends created separation in the post. His goal is to bring that same efficiency to late-game possessions.
Edwards has already cemented himself as Minnesota’s all-time leader in three-pointers and has recorded multiple 40-point playoff performances, including a 43-point outing against the Lakers in the 2025 first round.
The Timberwolves, who reached back-to-back Western Conference Finals, will look to Edwards’ expanded toolkit as they aim to make a deeper run next postseason.
Edwards has been training at the Timberwolves’ facility since June, maintaining a consistent presence in preparation for his sixth NBA season.
